BOTOX® first earned its wrinkle-erasing reputation by eliminating vertical frown lines between the eyes—often called the “11s”—and horizontal forehead folds. However, the uses for the world’s most popular cosmetic treatment seem almost limitless.
First approved by the FDA in 2002 to treat glabellar (frown) lines, BOTOX is now approved by the FDA for a long list of cosmetic and medical uses, including reducing excessive underarm sweating and as a treatment for chronic migraines. It’s most often used, though, to reduce the appearance of wrinkles caused by the repeated movement of facial muscles when we change expressions.
These “dynamic” wrinkles differ from “static” wrinkles primarily caused by sun exposure and the natural aging process. Dermal fillers, such as JUVÉDERM® and Restylane® products, treat static wrinkles, while BOTOX tackles dynamic ones.
In this blog post, we’ve compiled BOTOX before and after photos featuring some of our actual patients to showcase the treatment’s versatility and effectiveness. Getting the type of results you see here requires choosing a skilled injector who understands how many units of BOTOX are needed for each area of the face.
Our expert Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners at Weiler Plastic Surgery perform BOTOX injections using a conservative approach to avoid results that appear “frozen” or have the drug spread to areas where it’s not needed.
BOTOX Before and After Photos
Crow’s Feet
Crow’s feet are a common concern among both women and men. When you’re younger, crow’s feet typically appear when you smile or squint and then disappear when your face relaxes. As you reach your 30s, though, you may start noticing the fine lines at the corners of the eyes never go away.
Forehead Lines
Horizontal forehead wrinkles can add years to your appearance. These BOTOX before and after photos show a smooth forehead that creates a more youthful look.
Dimpled Chin
A single dimple on the chin is sometimes considered attractive or cute. Multiple dimples create an orange-peel appearance that can make you self-conscious. BOTOX relaxes the mentalis muscle and results in a smooth chin.
Neck Bands
Platysmal bands are a common sign of aging caused by the weakening and separation of the neck muscles. Injecting BOTOX into the platysmal muscle—a broad, thin sheet of muscle extending from the collarbone to the jawline and lower lip—eliminates these neck bands.
Gummy Smile
If you’re self-conscious about how much of your upper gum shows when you smile, BOTOX provides a nonsurgical solution. When the muscle in the upper lip pulls excessively, it results in a “gummy smile.” Treating a gummy smile with BOTOX is becoming increasingly popular, with results lasting up to 3 months.
Frown Lines
Worry or frown lines between the eyebrows can make you look angry or upset, even when you feel content. They can also add years to your appearance. Patients in their 20s may get BOTOX injections at the first sign of worry lines to prevent them from becoming prominent.
