Injectables may not be for everyone as it does not always solve skin concerns. Many patients want a subtle lift, or to remove smoke lines, which are often times difficult to achieve with fillers or Botox alone. Other invasive procedure, such as a facelift, may be an option for them.

Know what you want to achieve and be very vocal with your physician when discussing your concerns and hopes. The only way he/she can address these concerns effectively is if you tell them. If you think you may not be able to verbally tell them, make a list. Seeing it on paper may help you realize exactly what you want. It’s also important to be honest with both yourself and your physician. Embarrassment is a natural emotion that most feel. We are here to help you become comfortable with your body and appearance.

Take the advice of your physician. Certified physicians and injectors have had plenty of training and experience in administering injectables to patients, and they know what to expect of the injection. While you may not think a certain option will give you the results you’re looking for, your physician does. As well, following the physician’s post-operative orders is one of the most important factors of getting good results.

Be aware that bruising and redness is normal, and can happen to anyone. This only last a few days. Be sure to apply ice wrapped in a thin cloth to minimize bruising. Supplements, such as VitaMedica’s Arnica Montana, are also offered and encouraged.

Give it time and return to follow up appointments. After a couple of weeks your injectable settles, and true results begin to appear. Only until then can your physician or injector better evaluate you to discuss other options or provide touchups if needed to help achieve your desired look. Before two weeks, your body has to take time to get used to the foreign substance. Botox takes about two weeks to relax into the muscle. After a week or two, most patients begin to see the changes that the injectable provides, and are often times very happy with the results.
