For mommy makeover patients who want to enhance their breasts but don’t want implants, we offer the innovative DIEP Mommy Makeover. Performed in our Metairie location by Dr. Daniel Womac, this procedure augments the breasts using your body’s own tissues transferred from the lower abdomen, resulting in a natural look and feel and long-lasting results.
Your Surgical Experience
Our Mommy Makeovers are performed at Weiler Plastic Surgery under general anesthesia on an outpatient basis. Patients will need someone to drive them home after the surgery and have someone stay with them for a few days after surgery.
If you are receiving a tummy tuck, your surgeon will place two small drains to aid in removing excess fluid. The drains are typically removed at your one-week follow-up visit. A garment is applied after surgery and should be worn for four to six weeks. If you are receiving a breast augmentation or a breast lift you will be required to wear a bra for the first six weeks.
If you are a current smoker, your surgeon advises you to stop smoking for a minimum of three weeks prior to your procedure. Smoking can greatly affect the healing process after an abdominoplasty. All current medications you are currently taking will be reviewed at your preoperative appointment and we will inform you if anything you are taking will need to be stopped prior to surgery.

How Much Do You Have To Weigh To Get a Mommy Makeover?
You should be at a healthy, stable weight before your mommy makeover surgery, especially if your procedure includes a tummy tuck. While every patient varies, ideal mommy makeover candidates are usually within 10 to 15 pounds of their goal weight with a BMI (body mass index) of no more than 30.

What to Expect After Surgery
Typical recovery for a Mommy Makeover is traditionally not much longer than a standard tummy tuck. We will see you back in the office in one to two days following your procedures to remove the dressings and inspect incisions. Concerns are addressed and instructions are reviewed for optimal recovery. After this visit you will be allowed to go home and shower with your body compression bandage on, however, your bra may be removed. You should expect some swelling and bruising initially which will subside over the next couple of weeks. Tightness in your abdominal muscles after a tummy tuck is normal. Some patients may not be able to stand completely upright for a few days following surgery. Walking around after your surgery is very important to promote circulation. If you had a tummy tuck, your surgeon will recommend starting on full strength aspirin daily for the first week after surgery. You will return to the office seven days post surgery and again at two weeks for your initial follow-up visits.
Post-Op Activity Restrictions
Patient’s recovery after Mommy Makeover procedures are highly variable, but in general most patients are able to return to work within 10 to 14 days and are back to normal activities within two to three weeks.* Strenuous activity is to be avoided for several weeks following the surgery. At six weeks most patients are able to resume normal activity with no restrictions.
